History
Agroforestry Biodiversity Studies and Research Center “Acad. David Davidescu” (CSCBAS), established by Decision no. 982/19.10.2006 of the President of the Romanian Academy, is a public institution with legal personality under the “Costin C. Kirițescu” National Institute of Economic Research of the Romanian Academy.
The mission of the Agroforestry Biodiversity Studies and Research Center “Acad. David Davidescu” is to contribute to the development and consolidation of competence in the field of scientific research in Romania by:
– carrying out fundamental and advanced scientific research for the development of the fields of agricultural and forestry biodiversity, sustainable development, and ecological reconstruction, in different ecosystems;
– the development and preservation of the scientific heritage, by generating, identifying, engaging, and promoting projects of major interest;
– applied research for the implementation, development and increase of bioeconomic efficiency in anthropogenic ecosystems, highlighting the biodiversity of agroecosystems, the superior valorization of the territorial capital and the Romanian natural heritage;
– the development of programs for scientific research, innovation and technological transfer in the fields of interest, as well as in related fields, for the purpose of the sustainable development of agroforestry biodiversity;
– participation in the elaboration of studies, programs, and support works for sectoral and national research and development strategies;
– active involvement in studies and analyzes for the foundation and support of legislative initiatives and development policies, providing consultancy and expertise to assist the activity of the legislature and the executive;
CSCBAS main objectives are the following:
– Research activities carried out on projects included in the research programs of the National Institute of Economic Research of the Romanian Academy, programs targeted annually by the Department of Economic, Legal and Sociological Sciences and the Department of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences of the Romanian Academy and financed by the budget of the Romanian Academy.
– Activities to capitalize on research results that include:
ð Research activities carried out based on contracts with public or private partners interested in studying phenomena and processes revolving around the scientific objective of CSCBAS.
ð Other activities for capitalizing on research results: consultancy, analyses, scientific studies; organization of scientific events; obtaining and assigning copyright.
The CSCBAS research structure includes the following sectors:
– Agricultural biodiversity;
– Ecological reconstruction and sustainable development;
– Forest biodiversity.
The professional backgrounds of the researchers working within the Center (employees and/or associates) include a broad range of specializations from CSCBAS’s areas of interest, that collaborate to develop interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies and research (additional information can be- found on the institution’s website).
